To qualify as an accredited investor, documentation must be submitted to verify eligibility. Below are the accepted methods of verification.
Income-based verification
Submit one of the following:
W-2s, 1099s, or tax returns for the past two years showing individual income over $200,000 per year
Joint income with a spouse exceeding $300,000 per year for each of the past two years
Income must be consistent and ongoing.
Asset-based verification
Provide recent financial account statements showing net assets exceeding $1,000,000 (excluding primary residence). Statements must:
Include the applicant’s name
Be dated within the last 3 months
If including physical real estate (other than primary residence), provide proof of ownership and valuation documentation.
Professional letter of verification
Submit a signed and dated letter on official letterhead from one of the following professionals, confirming they reasonably believe you qualify as an accredited investor:
Licensed CPA
Attorney
SEC-registered investment advisor
FINRA-registered broker-dealer
The letter must include your name and be dated within the last 3 months.
Professional designation
If holding certain financial licenses, submit your CRD number to verify active registration and good standing for any of the following:
Series 7
Series 65
Series 82
Knowledgeable employee designation
This qualification must be approved by the issuer. Third-party verifiers like North Capital Private Securities cannot verify this status.
