Why is my CoinZoom Visa Card Declined

Why card is getting declined

There are several reasons why your CoinZoom Visa Crypto Debit Card transaction may be declined. If you are trying to make a debit card deposit and are declined, see the separate article on debit card deposit issues.

Spend Wallet Configuration

Your CoinZoom Visa Card can spend from any supported currency in your account, but only one currency per transaction. If your Spend Wallet is set to a currency with fewer funds than your attempted purchase, the transaction will be declined.

Even if you have multiple coins (for example, $50 in BTC and $50 in LTC), the card cannot combine them in one transaction. You must spend one coin at a time.

See the Spend Wallet Configuration article for detailed instructions.

Insufficient Funds or Balance Limit

The most common reason for a decline is not having enough balance to cover the total transaction amount, including any fees. Spending or withdrawal limits can also cause declines, especially for large purchases or multiple transactions in a short time.

  • Check your available balance before making a purchase or ATM withdrawal.

  • Wait 24 hours if you’ve reached your daily spending limit.

  • Add funds to your account to cover the transaction amount plus potential fees.

See the Understanding Card Spending Limits for the CoinZoom Prime Levels article for detailed instructions.

Funds on Hold

Funds that are on hold cannot be spent until the hold period expires. This is common when depositing funds and trying to spend immediately.

  • Check the Deposits on Hold card in your account to see the amount, hold expiration date, and when funds become available.

  • If you attempt to spend more than your available (not on hold) balance, the transaction will be rejected.

For details on checking holds, see this article How to Check Withdrawal Restrictions article.

Fees

Transaction fees must be considered when making purchases or ATM withdrawals. ATM fees, in particular, can cause transactions to be declined if you attempt to withdraw your full available balance without accounting for the fee. See this article for examples.

See the CoinZoom Fees page for all current rates.

Pre-Authorized Charges

Some merchants place a temporary hold (pre-authorization) when the final purchase amount is not known at the time of payment.

Examples include:

  • Hotels (to cover room rate and potential extras)

  • Gas stations (to cover estimated fill-up cost)

  • Car rental companies

Pre-authorization holds can temporarily reduce your available balance and may result in declined transactions until the hold expires or you add more funds.

Card Information or Entry Error

Entering incorrect card details will automatically trigger a decline.

  • Wrong CVV or expiration date

  • Incorrect card number or billing ZIP code

  • Wrong PIN entered multiple times (may lock the card)

  • Expired or inactive card

KYC Restrictions

If you make changes to your account profile (such as address or phone number), your account will be restricted for 48 hours while your KYC is revalidated. During this period, funds cannot be moved or spent.

Security Or Fraud Protection Declines

For your protection, CoinZoom’s security system may block transactions that appear unusual, such as high-value or international charges.

  • Purchase flagged as potential fraud

  • Unusual spending location or merchant type

  • Lost or stolen card previously reported

If your transaction continues to be declined, please create a support ticket and include:

  • The date and amount of the attempted charge

  • The merchant name

  • Any visible decline message

Our team will review the transaction.
