Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security step in addition to your password to help keep your account safe. It is used for logging in, withdrawing funds, trading, and ZoomMe transactions. It is also called a One Time Password or OTP. 


Warning: You must set up 2FA within 3 logins to your account. If it is not set up by then, you will be locked out of your account and must contact Support to gain access. 


Note: 2FA is always enabled for logging in and withdrawing and cannot be turned off. We recommend keeping 2FA turned on in the Settings for both trading and ZoomMe.

Set Up an Authenticator

You must have an authenticator app in order to enter an OTP to login. After you've entered your password, the system will ask for an OTP, which you must retrieve from your authenticator. Authentication apps display a temporary code for you to put into CoinZoom each time you log in. The OTP code changes every 30 seconds. You must enter it before the timer runs out or use the next code that shows. 


We recommend using Google Authenticator, but you can use any authentication app that your device accepts. The advantage with Google Authenticator is it does not tie to your phone number, which keeps you protected even in the event of your phone number being compromised. (However, you'll still need a phone number associated with your CoinZoom account in order to buy or sell digital currency.) When using Google Authenticator for your 2-step verification codes, you will still be protected even if your password is stolen and your phone number is ported.

Download Google Authenticator

From your device's app store, find and install Google Authenticator:

There are two ways to set up 2-factor authentication: with a QR code or manually. If you use a QR code, you will need two devices (one can be a computer). Otherwise you can set it up manually and just use one device.

If you have a personal computer or another device, skip to Use a QR Code With a Second Device, below.

Follow these steps on your mobile device to copy the secret key to your authenticator app:



Paste the Secret Key in Your Authenticator App

  1. Open the authenticator app and add a new entry (sometimes called Account)
  2. Choose to Enter a Setup Key. If you've never opened your authenticator before, it may take you directly to the new entry screen. Otherwise, tap the + button on the bottom right corner of the screen. 
  3. Name the new entry something like, "CoinZoom".
  4. Go back to CoinZoom and copy the secret key 

Copy the Secret Key

From the CoinZoom app, copy the secret key and paste it into Authenticator field "Your Key". The secret key is a 20 character string on the QR code screen inside the CoinZoom app.


Warning: Your secret key should never be shared with anyone and should be kept in a safe place. You can use it to re-enable your 2FA if you ever delete the entry or lose or change your phone. 


Now you should have a new entry called CoinZoom in your authenticator. 

Enter the One-Time Password in CoinZoom

To finish linking your CoinZoom account to Authenticator, tap the new entry you made in Authenticator to reveal the  one-time password (OTP) code. Hold your finger on it to copy it, then paste it on the QR code screen in CoinZoom. This completes the 2FA setup. 


Tap Confirm to complete your 2FA setup.


When you set up your authentication app, it will give you an option of storing a private key. This key lets you recover your authenticator setup or port the configuration to another device. If you do not have this, you must contact CoinZoom support to reset it.



  1. In the Pro app, tap to copy the secret key and paste it into your authenticator app (ignore the QR code)
  2. Copy the new 2FA code from your authentication app 
  3. Continue to the next screen in CoinZoom
  4. Paste it into the CoinZoom screen.

  1. In the mobile app, copy and paste the secret key(ignore the QR code)
  2. Paste it into your authenticator app
  3. Copy the new 2FA code from your authentication app
  4. Tap Done in CoinZoom and paste the 6-digit code.


Warning: We recommend printing the key and storing it in a safe location where it is not likely to be discovered by others who could access your account without authorization.

> Use a QR Code With a Second Device

These instructions are for those who have access to another device, including a personal computer, which makes it easier to set up two-factor authentication (2FA). If you have a single device go back up to Manual Setup With a Single Device.

If you have another device to use, follow these instructions. You'll use the other device to show a QR code and your mobile device for taking a picture of it. This makes it the set-up a little more automated.  


Follow these steps to set up 2FA. These steps are for Google Authenticator, but are similar to any other authentication app you may use.

Find the QR Code in CoinZoom

On a computer or other device, login to trade.CoinZoom.com and choose Settings -> Two-Factor Authentication -> Reveal QR Code. The QR code will tie Authenticator and CoinZoom together. 

Scan a QR Code in Your Authenticator App

Open the authentication app on your device and choose to scan a QR code. If you've never opened your authenticator before, it may take you directly to the new entry screen. Otherwise, tap the + button on bottom right corner of the screen. 


With your CoinZoom device, point your camera at the QR code. This makes a new entry. Name it something like, "CoinZoom" for quick reference when you come back (the authenticator can have many entries for a variety of apps). 

Now you should have a new entry called CoinZoom in your authenticator. Click it to reveal the OTP.

Enter the New One-Time Password (OTP) in CoinZoom

Go back to CoinZoom and type the 6-digit one-time password (OTP) from Google Authenticator. Then click Confirm to finish the setup. 

This is the QR code from the CoinZoom web app. From your authentication app, add a new item, choose the QR code option and point your device to capture this code with your camera.
